Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision
Too late, too poor to save it with a cure
Too bad, too wrong to will it well and gone
Too volatile, the bandit running wild
The child consumed by his rage
I'm cold, I'm hot, my temperance is shot
I'm smart, I'm dumb, sedated when I'm numb
I'm holding control back and folding my soul sack
To let it grow better with age

Getting up from a steady sitting position
Causing a collision
Getting out of a ready splitting decision
Bringing the division

They're young, I'm not, my ticket has been bought
My life's my lot, my music's all I've got
I don't make a penny, it makes me unfriendly
And drives all the women away
My time is spent, my back is sore and bent
My best is passed, I couldn't make it last
Don't blame them for laughing, for catching me napping
Exacting the toll that I pay

Lying low from the fallout of their derision
Using tunnel vision
Hanging on the duration of a good mission
Coming to fruition
Getting up from a steady sitting position
Causing a collision
Getting out of a ready splitting decision
Bringing the division

We walk, we run, we take it as it comes
We love, we live, we get it as we give
We hope that we're breaking a road that's worth taking
And leaving the last one behind
We cry out loud when fortune runs afoul
Submit a plea for full immunity
Whatever the breakdown, we never can take down
In excess of one of a kind

Leaning hard on the tenets of a religion
Saving ammunition
Zoning out all reception of apparition
Straining just to listen
Lying low from the fallout of their derision
Using tunnel vision
Hanging on the duration of a good mission
Coming to fruition
Getting up from a steady sitting position
Causing a collision
Getting out of a ready splitting decision
Bringing the division
Dee-dee-dee...
