Pathetic

Pathetic
King size bed
Running room aplenty for the
Wings that spread
Not much fun for anyone
Aim so blind
Clumsily projected on a moving train
Pointlessly deflected
Ask the lady for a table for one
Thanks for waiting but we already booked the last one

When they endeavoured to wreck it
I never suspected
I stayed unconnected from the ill-fated start
When they said it's pathetic
I never would get it
The better to let it miss the mark on my heart

I won't be your victim
I won't be your pawn
You won't get a lick in
When the armour is on
LASHING NAME, FLASHING FLAME, FALLOUT CLOUD EMISSION
PELTING HAIL, DRIVING NAIL, ALL OUT DEMOLITION
Show me no mercy
I live to resist you
You cannot destroy me
As much as you wish to
TURNING TIDE, BROKEN RIDE, CHANGING WIND'S DIRECTION
SWALLOWED PAIN, HOLLOWED GAIN, ACCEPTANCE REJECTION
As long as I wasn't trying to be
The chump of the century was anyone better than me?

When they endeavoured to wreck it
I never suspected
I stayed unconnected from the ill-fated start
When they said it's pathetic
I never would get it
The better to let it miss the mark on my heart
When they ran out of excuses
Their weapons were useless
Their horses ran loose in the blanketing dark
When they said it's pathetic
I never would get it
The better to let it miss the mark on my heart

Strange to find
No one pays attention til I
Change my mind
Left to new invention find
Trying out
Alternative solutions to my
Crying out
Taunted by confusion's doubt
Lying low in my laughable clothes
Listening to the chorus line beckon me in

When they endeavoured to wreck it
I never suspected
I stayed unconnected from the ill-fated start
When they said it's pathetic
I never would get it
The better to let it miss the mark on my heart
When they ran out of excuses
Their weapons were useless
Their horses ran loose in the blanketing dark
When they said it's pathetic
I never would get it
The better to let it miss the mark on my heart
