Innocent

Innocent
Making her motions out on the floor
Soon as I had the rent
All the rest was Heaven sent
Don't want to think of what lies in store
Hurt that was never meant
Hope it isn't permanent

Soon as the daylight struck the crowd
Scattered to their homes they went
None of them were innocent
Some master plan that fell afoul
Acting out in self-defence
Thought it made a lot of sense

Don't get a lot from watching the news
See that we overspent
Said it was the government
Spots on the ceiling keep me amused
Me and my chosen one
Have ourselves a little fun

Led in a circle by a chain
Far too educational
Should be more sensational
Only the faithful would remain
Traveled to a spectacle
Thought it was respectable

Would not lie to you
Other ways to pacify you
Or rely on you
To take my side when I'm outside you

What was she saying yesterday night?
Noise that would not relent
Better other ears were lent
Why does she never answer me right?
Pushes the blame behind
Other problems on her mind

Soon as the daylight struck the crowd
Scattered to their homes they went
None of them were innocent
Some master plan that fell afoul
Acting out in self-defence
Thought it made a lot of sense
Led in a circle by a chain
Far too educational
Should be more sensational
Only the faithful would remain
Traveled to a spectacle
Thought it was respectable
